Earth Day Is April 22nd

Earth Day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment.

April 22nd is Earth Day! For this year, Earth Day's is themed after A Billion Acts of Green: a people-powered campaign to generate a billion acts of environmental service and advocacy before Rio +20.

Rio+20 is the United Nations Conference of Sustainable Development that will take place in Brazil on 4-6 June 2012 celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), in Rio de Janeiro, and the 10th anniversary of the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg.

There are many initiatives going on around the world to contribute to the A Billion Acts of Green campaign, such as, the Earth Hour, massive tree planting and recycling programs.
